Obsidian

Obsidian is volcanic glass, formed when silica-rich lava cools too quickly to build crystals. Its sharp fracture made it a material for tools, while polished obsidian became one of humanity's earliest mirror surfaces and later held particular importance in Mesoamerican objects. It carries two ancient ideas at once: the edge and the reflection.
